The VETS Adventure Series will be making its 3rd expedition to Machu Picchu. This is an optional post-trip for those travelers on the Galapagos 2022 adventure!

Friday, July 8, 2022:
DAY 1 - FRIDAY, JULY 8
am – Early flight from Lima to Cusco, after a Buffet Breakfast. We will be picked up by our tour guides at the airport. That morning, we will see Maras and Ollantaytambo. Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The salt ponds of Maras date back to the pre-Incan times. Ollantaytambo is the starting point of the famous ‘Inca Trail’ and is an active archeological site.

pm – Misminay Experience — the rural community of Misminay is located 20 minutes from the archaeological complex of Moray. There, 120 families live in the community preserving their ancestral traditions, sacredly linked with nature and their world view. Thanks to the effort and team work with the community, tourism has become an additional income to agriculture which has positively impacted their quality of life.

2 pm - 7 pm Afternoon at Leisure or visit the Market

6 am - 11 am: Second visit to Machu Picchu Citadel (not a guided tour.)

This tour will include Koricancha, the most important temple in the Inca Empire. You will also see the Santo Domingo Cathedral, which was built on the foundation of the Koricancha temple.
1 pm - 2 pm
Lunch at Incanto Restaurant
2 pm - 5 pm: Optional tours or afternoon at Leisure
Option 1: Four Mayan Ruins
Option 2: Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas— This tour will be combining beautiful natural landscapes, Inca architecture in Tipon, pre-Inca Wari architecture in Pikillacta and a beautiful chapel of Andahuaylillas, known as the "Sistine Chapel of America."
